"If we could give Ron 10/5 stars we would. We were referred to him by a friend and will never use another agent again. He knows the city and housing market well and was able to provide us valuable information throughout the process. Ron was patient when we (often) threw him curveballs about what we were looking for in a home or visited the same house 5 times before making a decision to put an offer in. He was always willing to provide inputs and connect us with people who could help us. Ron is very responsive, always on time and overall just an absolute joy to work with. Thank you Ron!" - M & H

We were able to quickly narrow down our search and found the perfect home for us. We highly recommend him and will definitely work with him again." - S & N

"Me and my husband worked with Ron over a couple of weeks to find our dream home. His approach of finding out what we like, what was within budget and the requirements set the standard when we kicked things off. It’s worth to highlight that we bought the 1st house he showed us. This reflects how well he understood us and how intuitive he is! Throughout the journey from offer to handover of keys (11 days) it was the smoothest process one can imagine. He was always available and ready to walk the extra mile to provide us answers and to coordinate things with the listing agent. Overall I highly recommend taking up his services. He is very knowledgeable and a great fine man." - D & F

"The home-buying process is known to be overwhelming, however Ron made the process extremely smooth and productive throughout, from our introduction through my escrow close. He immediately established himself as a trustworthy resource and his actions time and time again made it apparent that he had my best interests as his priority. He made it clear when a property was not in my best interests based on his expertise and knowledge and made himself available at any point, regardless of the hour or day. His responsiveness, knowledge, and strategic approach led to me finding my perfect home. I highly recommend Ron to anyone in the market for a home, I guarantee you will not be dissapointed." - E

"I honestly don’t know where to begin with how great of a realtor and person Ron Salter is. Being a first-time homebuyer – and in a market as competitive as SF – I was extremely apprehensive about everything! Thankfully, I could not have asked for someone to work with better than Ron! From the moment we first met to discuss goals and expectations to that milestone when I signed on that dotted line for my very first home, Ron was patient, knowledgeable, and trustworthy every step of the way. Patience – I had no idea what to expect in buying a home in SF. I was overwhelmed with the countless documents to read, fill out, gather, etc. Ron patiently guided me through all of them – even when I forgot certain deadlines. Knowledgeable – The SF/Bay Area market can be quite intimidating. Not only does Ron work with a great real estate company that provides him with a platform for up-to-date and crucial information about this dynamic market, he himself also takes the time to do his own research on the area and properties of interest to me. Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty! Trustworthy – I find this to be the most valuable quality of Ron. I interviewed a number of realtors (as well as having had prior experiences helping friends with theirs) and I finally selected Ron because I sensed that I could trust him, and he did not prove me wrong. He was not focused on how much money or commission he could make from a certain purchase. Instead, his priority was to find the right home for me. This true sincerity is a quality not found in many realtors, and Ron innately possesses such! Thank you very much, Ron! You were an integral and appreciated part of helping make my American dream come true!" - V

"TL;DR: Ron is incredible. He's friendly, knowledgeable about the SF housing market, detail-oriented, super responsive (he never once delayed on a reply longer than 24 hours, and often responded within minutes), and tenacious as a negotiator (got us a significant reduction in our final purchase price). We highly recommend Ron, especially for first-time homebuyers like us! My wife and I have been renting our whole lives, and living in San Francisco meant that we probably were going to continue renting for a while to come. However, with the pandemic and resulting drop (however small) in condo prices within the city, we figured we'd dip our toes in the water and see what was available. We were randomly paired with Ron when we requested a showing of a condo (not the one we ended up purchasing). Wow, were we lucky! We decided immediately after viewing the condo that we didn't like it, and that night Ron sent us a customized list of condos to review. As first-time homebuyers, we had a lot of questions, and Ron always answered each one quickly, thoroughly, and patiently. After several misses, Ron never lost hope or gave up on us, and when we found our perfect condo he immediately switched to tenacious negotiator, getting the sellers to not only agree to a discounted price but also to fix several items around the house. One of those was repainting, and Ron got them to agree to repaint using our specific paint and color selections. Alas, the painters messed it up, but Ron pushed again and the sellers got another painter to come and fix it, no extra cost to us. We just closed yesterday, and we can't believe how lucky we were. Ron was amazing to work with, and we highly recommend him to anyone but especially first-time homebuyers like us who may be apprehensive about getting into the SF market. Ron knows his stuff and will find you a home that you'll really be happy with." - A & G

"Ron is simply fantastic. He's a pleasure to work with - very kind and personable - but he's also able to view things from an analytical standpoint. I felt like he neither under- nor over-sells things, but simply tells it like it is. This was super important to me, because I felt like I could completely trust him and rely on his instincts. He is also incredibly quick and professional. There was no lag-time in any response, and he really knew the market well and was able to give a very thorough analysis of the market where we were looking. If we ever need to purchase a house again in SF, we would 100% work with Ron again." - D & L

"I couldn't be happier with my realtor, Ron Salter, of Compass. He was extremely responsive and very pro-active on communicating with me, from teaching me about the local market to the purchase of my new condo. I wish I could find some criticism to help him better himself in his career, but I honestly can't think of anything that he could have done differently or better for me. Not being from San Francisco, I was nervous and surprised by this market. I had some difficult moments in understanding the process that I'm not sure any other realtor would have had the patience to deal with me. He answered all of my questions (which were many) and assisted me with all issues throughout the entire process. I wasn't entirely sure what the process would entail and how much work it would take, but Ron was extremely informative and made it simple. You could tell right off the bat that he takes his career seriously and had my best interests in mind. I am thrilled that Ron was my realtor and have already recommended him to several others. I don't think Compass could have a better realtor out there representing them!" - J

"Lucky us! Ron is the reason we were able to land a dream property in Mission Bay. We first met him at an open house in the financial district and decided to work with Ron because he was incredibly quick to respond. He listened to (and remembered) every detail that we were looking for and tirelessly toured us through potential homes. At the end of the day, it was Ron's professional connections that lead us to the property we ended up buying. We didn't even have this place on our radar, but Ron was able to pull some strings and help us view & purchase the property before it ever hit the market. Ron was patient and transparent during the bidding process, providing useful negotiation tips without being pushy. He never missed a beat with emails or calls. The icing on top of the cake was that Ron followed through at the end of the purchase! He was there during every single walk through, even helping us track down missing pieces of information. Every one of his recommendations (for inspector, carpet cleaner, even a restaurant) were spot on. His advantage as an SF native really showed, and we'd absolutely work with Ron again." - H & Y

"We had an incredible experience working with Ron Salter to purchase our first home in San Francisco. I first met Ron in 2017 at a showing and he proactively offered to help me in my search. After months of patiently showing me properties and answering a laundry list of questions, I decided to continue renting. Three years later, my boyfriend and I reactivated the search and of course went immediately to Ron. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing it was working with Ron. He is extraordinarily patient, knowledgeable, communicative, and generally professional. As first-time buyers, he walked us through every step of the process -- from finding a lender, exploring properties across the city, navigating escrow, and ultimately closing. There was zero judgment -- just calm and professional guidance and support at all hours of the day and night. Ron masterfully coordinated with the other players involved, anticipating and ironing out wrinkles at every stage. He handled the added complexity of a Tenancy in Common purchase in the middle of a global pandemic with such ease and confidence and made it a fast and seamless experience. The same goes to his support team at Compass. We HIGHLY recommend working with Ron when buying or selling a property. It was an absolute pleasure, and we could not be happier with our new home." - G & T

"I was referred to Ron by a friend of a friend and I am so grateful they introduced me to him. I was a first time home buyer looking for a single family home in San Francisco below the median price in the market which by all accounts seemed like an impossible task. I interviewed 4-5 other realtors and even at an early stage Ron stood out. He was easy to schedule with, listened actively and quickly understood what I was looking for without making me fill out a bunch of questionnaires, and didn't impose any time pressure. He did a great job of subtly educating me on any assumptions I had wrong without any judgement. Lots of people try to scare you about how hard it is but anytime Ron described a challenge it was backed with data and described in terms of tradeoffs. I felt empowered through the whole process. Even though I wasn't in a rush, he was quick to answer my questions about listings that caught my eye. I learned a lot from him when we visited homes. I loved one of the places but immediately ruled it out as being out of my reach. About two weeks later we were able to spot that it was still on the market and Ron moved quickly to schedule another showing and figure out what offer could close the deal. Ron consistently demonstrated that he had my best interests in mind during the offer and closing process. All sorts of big and little things went wrong that were out of his control but he showed an incredible sense of ownership. He leaned on his relationships to minimize the impact to me. He moved mountains to still able to close within a few days of the original date. Instead of being annoyed at how complicated and difficult it got he was always so kind and empathetic towards me. I can't sing his praises enough and will be definitely sending anyone I know his way." - E

"As first-time home-buyers, my partner Sarah and I were so fortunate to have been matched with Ron through Zillow. It was a multiple month journey learning about the San Francisco market and Ron went above and beyond educating us through his SF market update newsletter and responded to emails almost instantly whenever we had a question about a property. While his unique knowledge of the SF market led us to choose him as our realtor, his strong relationships with agents was a difference-maker in helping us get into contract. For one property, he went the day before to meet with the agent and to tell them about what we were looking for. This is a small example of Ron always putting in the extra work to make sure we were in the best position possible whenever we wanted to make an offer on a home. If you're looking for a home in SF, Ron will definitely be your trusted advisor in your home-hunting journey." - K & S

"Over the course of almost 5 months, I have had a great experience working with Ron to find my first home purchase in SF, and eventually, we did it (off-market)! Ron took the time to understand my likings and makes good listing recommendations in general. He is very responsive to viewing requests and questions and guided me well throughout the process. He is patient and didn't really impose any pressure during the search. Another thing I like about Ron is that he is data-driven. He has been proactive in providing CMAs for properties that I showed interest in, and he also uses that to give offer recommendations relatively objectively. I got to learn quite a lot from him about real estate in the process. He has solid local knowledge. Not only is he able to speak to the pros/cons when it comes to many different areas and condo buildings in the city, but he also has a relatively accurate sense of the SF market that his price point estimations have been fairly close, for offers that we have made in this process and for sold listings that I was interested in but didn't make offers for. We had a few issues during the loan contingency period after our offer was accepted and Ron had been very helpful in their resolutions. He has good contacts in many areas relevant to purchasing real estate such as lending, insurance, and real estate law, etc that sometimes come in handy and I think he had demonstrated that he'd have the client's best interest in mind during the offer and closing stages. He is awesome!" - S & E

"We were first time home buyers with no idea of what to expect during the home buying process, and for ways to assess the SF market. We really appreciated that Ron was patient, knowledgeable and understanding of what was important to us in our first home. We would send him listings on MLS, and we'd get back his thoughts on the price / value / neighborhood. We'd see listings in person, and Ron would advise us on how we could move forward if we were interested. He was also really helpful in answering our questions upfront about financing, offer negotiation and closing. Ron did not push us to make a decision at any point in the process, but gave us enough information to feel like we were making the right choice for ourselves." - V & D

"Ron was incredibly helpful in my condo search. I told him I was exclusively interested in the Rincon Hill neighborhood of San Francisco which he was very knowledgeable about. He got me access to condos in my price range that also had all of the attributes I was specifically looking for. This was my first time buying a property, and Ron helped me feel very comfortable with the parts of the process I was not familiar with. I really appreciate his patience in answering my questions and also his ability to help me navigate an unprecedented housing market due to the COVID-19 disruptions. I ultimately paid about 3.7% under the asking price and about 7.8% what the buyer previously paid for the property 5 years prior. I would highly recommend Ron to anyone looking for a broker who is both knowledgeable as well as friendly." - S

"Purchased a Luxury Condo in SF. I was extremely pleased with working with Ron during the process of evaluating type of homes (condo vs. single family home), understanding the current market conditions, negotiating a deal and finally working through a cross-border escrow/close on our new home. Ron originally came highly recommended from a close friend which I am glad we took her advice. Key Points that made the process smooth: - His ability to understand the needs of myself and fiancé - Highly Knowledgeable about the SF Market - Provided crucial advice on specific buildings and areas to determine whether we should explore further or move on - Able to take several suggestions and sample listing and extrapolate where better opportunities, listing, deals and overall values would be - Very analytical when it comes to numbers and provided relevant information - Information that was provided was extremely helpful as we negotiated on different deals and where the absolute bottom was - We were in a very tight timeframe which Ron was able to push things quickly but without giving up any potential oversight - Vast network Highly recommend friends and family. Overall, just a very intelligent and genuine professional who is willing to go the extra mile to keep us happy. Ron is awesome." - N

Because of his knowledge of the area and the market, I was able to get beautiful unlisted condo at a price I was extremely excited about. My transaction encountered a few bumps in the road, and Ron was my advocate throughout the whole process. "I was matched with Ron via Zillow, and he was super helpful from the beginning. He knows SF really well and gave me pros and cons of buildings, areas and units I had saved in his portal before we even saw anything. I had been based out of town during COVID, and he even went with a friend of mine to screen a property I was interested in before I made the trip to SF. On the day we viewed, he had an aggressive schedule (which I appreciated) and was very helpful during the viewings. Once I settled on a place, he was great at advocating for me (I am a negotiator and appreciate that he negotiated well for me). He was a pleasure to work with, and I highly recommend Ron for anyone looking for an agent in SF. He is the rare combination of highly knowledgeable, communicative and aggressive." - N

"It took me so long to write this, because Ron is not someone who you can just say few words about him and that's it. Ron is such an extraordinary person that I wanted to take my time and think about all the right words in English about him. We purchased a beautiful home with having him and his help besides us. He is so calm, sweet and more importantly not PUSHY at all. He will tell you if something is not good for you, but he let you see your options and decide. We met Ron right before the pandemic started, but we told him that we cant rush ourselves due to strange pandemic situation. We wanted to wait to see what was going happen with the Pandemic. We waited about 9 months to start our house hunting again, but he updated us regarding the real state Market every month. That was so helpful for us to make a decision to move forward with purchasing our home. He also got us a very great deal on our purchase. There are not enough words to describe how amazing Ron is, and his wonderful 7 stars service, but trust me, not only you won't regret if you take my word, but also You will consider yourself so lucky to find him and have him on your home buying journey. Even though we moved into our new place a month ago, he still checks on us to see if everything is ok. Thank you Ron, you are simply amazing." - L & V

From the beginning, Ron was attentive, sincere, extremely responsive and prompt. He was patient, answering all my questions about the market and trends, and extremely knowledgeable. "Our friend recommended Ron Salter to us after he helped them buy their house. We were so grateful for this -- Ron Salter made buying a house almost too easy. He was patient as we figured out what we wanted from our house and really took to heart what our priorities were. He never pushed us to make decisions that we were uncomfortable with (and in fact suggested that we slow down with our decision making process) and always gave us a thorough rundown of each place we visited. We could not be happier with the place we eventually bought. Ron found the listing off-market and worked with us to figure our offer strategy. It's also worth mentioning that all of this house hunting was done during the coronavirus pandemic. Ron watched the housing market and would give us regular updates on how it was responding to the pandemic. And of course, he always had a mask and made sure to properly social distance." J & J

"Ron was my agent for buying my first ever home and I simply couldn't thank him enough. He is not only professional, knowledgeable, punctual (you'd be surprised how rare such a quality is nowadays...), but also always willing to listen and listen carefully. I was buying my first home in a city that I just moved into last year. You can imagine how many questions I had but Ron was always responsive, patient and gave me a thorough and well-thought advise. Most importantly, Ron truly thinks in nothing but my best interests. I was debating between a much bigger home and the one I actually ended up buying (which I am loving every single minute!!), and it was Ron who reminded me of what my needs indeed are and the fact that having so much extra space for me at this stage of my life may not be necessary, even though it means he was foregoing a much bigger commission. After the seller accepted my offer, Ron guided me through the closing process step by step, helped me chase the lender and its underwriting team, and negotiated through all the contingencies despite of delays on my loan. Thanks to him that despite of all the hiccups during the process, we managed to close the escrow on time in this crazy market!" - D & M

"I cannot recommend Ron highly enough. My partner and I were tentative first-time homebuyers when we met Ron. We were looking for a two-bedroom home in central San Francisco (Mission/Castro/Duboce/Hayes/Soma), and we had a fairly limited budget (by SF standards) of $1.1M. We knew very little about real estate in general, let alone the SF market, and we were fortuitously connected with Ron through an online search. Right from the beginning, Ron was unbelievably responsive, always replying to emails and texts immediately and willing to talk on the phone at any time. He is very knowledgeable and was able to provide clear answers to all of our naive questions, of which there were many! He also lives and works in the neighborhood, so it was great to have his expertise regarding the micro-local real estate market. Most importantly, Ron really took the time to get to learn who we were and what we wanted in a home. We had some unique preferences that probably didn't always align with his, but Ron was always able to see the homes through our eyes while adding his own valuable professional experience to the discussion. In the end, Ron helped us find the perfect home, with more space than we expected, in a great location, and under budget. The whole process went incredibly smoothly, and it wouldn't have been possible without Ron's expert guidance. If you're looking for a home in the city, Ron's definitely your guy!" - D & E

Ron is everything you could hope for in an agent and more. He doesn't hesitate to answer any questions, is always very responsive and timely, knows the market very well, and comes prepared with the latest data and trends. He fights to get you the best deal and most importantly truly cares about the people he works with. Not once did we ever feel pressured because he truly had our best interest in mind. Ron has been such a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend him to everyone. "My husband and I were first time buyers with countless questions. Throughout the entire process, Ron was nothing but patient – offering quick, concrete answers (as well as steps forward) to any-and-all questions. We never felt lost or confused, as Ron consistently painted a clear picture of what was happening. His honest and transparent feedback made us feel grounded, throughout the entire process. Best of all – when we found our current home, Ron advised us to bed under the seller’s asking price. He was right!" - C & L

"I worked with Ron to buy one property and sell two others. Both sales were post COVID—a buyers market in SF. Ron was incredibly communicative, professional, and detail oriented. He was responsive and made himself available whenever I needed him. He also humored me and showed a lot of patience as I turned down offers or wanted to optimize already-strong ones. When we needed it, Ron brought data and additional expertise to help get the result I was looking for. Finally, I really enjoyed working with Ron. He’s a very sweet guy and laughed at all my jokes! :) Sincerely, I am going to miss working with him. If you’re buying or selling in SF, do speak with Ron." - E

"I am a first time home buyer in San Francisco, and initially felt intimidated by the buying process. When I met Ron, he thoroughly walked me through end-to-end expectations and answered all the questions I had in mind. Working together, these were some key highlights: - Provided honest, logical feedback on each interested property - Visited all the listings on site with client - Extremely detailed and well organized with process documentations - Provided great context for searching and buying processes - Immediate availability for communication - Expertise in San Francisco housing and neighborhoods - Ability to tailor buying expectations with client's scope such as timeline, budget, lifestyle, desired property condition, and more - Ability to assess pros & cons and provide data-driven market value - Ability to accelerate processes - Most importantly, Ron has always been so punctual with time and deadlines I'm very happy with the condo I found with Ron and 100% satisfied with the overall process. Without Ron, I wouldn't be able to find the perfect place in time and smoothly finalize all the closing processes. Working together, Ron gave me great confidence and trust I needed as a buyer. "Buying real estate is an involved process and Ron is exactly the kind of person I want to work with for this kind of thing: he is honest, resourceful and genuinely delights in helping others. Over a few months, Ron helped me look at many units, keep an eye on listings that popped up, and with the mortgage / home insurance / moving process. He always responds to questions patiently and promptly. I ended up buying a spacious jr one bedroom in South Beach that I love. Ron has a good relationship with many agents in the area. Before the unit came on market, we were able to view it." - Z

"This review is overdue! Ron was such a pleasure to work with and a huge help in my search to purchase my home in San Francisco. I’ve bought and sold real estate before, but never in the city. Ron met with me at a Starbucks, and after listening to my very specific goals, he put together a plan to help me succeed in this complex market. His knowledge of the city, access to industry resources, and pulse on the market was very impressive. After touring several properties, I ended up feeling emotionally torn between 2. I asked Ron for his opinion. To my surprise, he suggested I offer on the much cheaper property. He thought it was a better value, saw greater long-term potential in it. He also mentioned he saw that my boyfriend and I were simply happier there. At that time I knew I was working with the right guy. He wasn’t just looking to make money; he genuinely cared that I made the right decision. I moved forward on the cheaper property and I’m so glad I did! Bottom-line, better than other agents I've used before because of his integrity and industry knowledge. This is an agent whom you can trust/ depend on (always available, even at 11PM at night to answer my non-sense questions), who is also very resourceful and sharp when it comes to negotiations with other side of the table. We still keep in touch to this day. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to purchase RE in SF." - H & A

"Ron is amazing! It was an awesome experience working with Ron, He had excellent knowledge of the areas we were interested in and was very helpful in showing us what was available with our preferences and within my budget. Overall he took the time to understand my needs and concerns and worked well to help us find a solution to fit our needs. He is extremely knowledgeable and resourceful realtor, very professional and has a keen understanding of the San Francisco market. He always made himself available as needed to show properties and answer all any questions and he always followed through on the requests in a timely and thorough fashion. He was always very responsive to all the inquiries and took time to explain things for better understanding. Based on our preferences, together we did good assessment of how each property met our hierarchy of needs for a current home and our aspirations for a property with future rental potential. I would absolutely recommend Ron to anyone looking for an agent – he is 100% worth it to get the most out of your search." - A & D

"Ron Salter figuratively and literally held my hand during the nerve racking journey of purchasing property in San Francisco. I needed not just a place for myself but a place that would bring me rental income. He asked basic questions about what I wanted at first but as he and his team did more research he found a more specific and clearer picture of what I needed. Ron knows the neighborhoods but more importantly he knows the micro locations which suits my needs. And if he didn't know something (or more often HE felt he didn't know enough) he would find the information quickly. He has an amazing amount of trustworthy contacts such as other realtors, buyers, property firms, sellers, appraisers, architects, construction firms, SF permit experts and many more. He was also willing to take time when I wanted to look at something that wasn't feasible. But he was never condescending or patronizing to me. That is a generally under appreciated but highly valued character trait to me. And it wasn't just about getting me to buy. He gave me guidance and honest assessments. By the end I had a friend who went above and beyond. He protected me from pitfalls, money holes and even myself. A pink building with a departing pharmacy and dilapidated second floor flat? No Shawn, just no! After the purchase of an amazing property when all the paperwork was signed he was still looking out for me. He was worried about an estimate I received, felt he could find better for me. So whether you have a precise vision of what you need or are stumbling around and anxious (like me) Ron Salter will help you navigate the incredibly difficult journey of buying property in San Francisco. This might seem like a rambling review of Ron but he helped me find a property that was everything I wanted and exactly what I needed. He helped me secure my future. How do you measure that? I felt and still feel incredibly lucky to have him on my side. Thank you, Ron!" - S

"Ron far exceeded expectations as our real estate agent. He took personal accountability for our listing and new home search. He was able to get us a record price per square foot with a quick all cash close. He also helped us find and close on our new home at below listing price with a contingent offer in an extremely hot market. My family and I are very thankful for what Ron did for us!
